A Typedream alternative for the site that outgrew the slash menu

Typedream offers a fast block-based editor, CMS collections and creator selling tools. Grigora adds a managed CMS, newsletter and physical or digital store from $12/month billed annually. Compare collection structure, supported products, site counts and usage allowances; a migration still needs a layout rebuild.

Quick answer

Is Grigora the right Typedream alternative?

Grigora is a Typedream alternative for teams that want a managed website, CMS, newsletter and broader storefront. Typedream's block editor and Notion database sync can suit existing users. Check new-account availability before relying on its advertised plans, and plan a rebuild because a Typedream layout does not transfer directly.

Choose Grigora if you want…

  • Posts, categories and directories in a managed CMS
  • A store with a catalogue, variants and stock, not a file and a link
  • 0% platform commission on every sale you make
  • A newsletter with automations and segmentation behind it
  • Two to five sites on one subscription instead of one per site

Stick with Typedream if you…

  • •Already have an account and write long pages every week
  • •Keep your content in a Notion database and want it synced, not migrated
  • •Want link in bio treated as a real product rather than a page template
Bottom line: Typedream made writing a website feel easy. Grigora makes everything after the writing possible.

Why people look past Typedream in 2026

The friction points that show up once the page turns into a business.

1

One collection is the whole blog

Launch allows a single CMS collection. A blog and a directory on the same site means Grow at $42/mo, per site. Grigora includes both from $12/mo.

2

The shop is a file and a link

Product pages, Stripe, PayPal and a sales dashboard, all pointed at digital goods, with 2% taken on top of card fees. Nothing in Typedream's own marketing covers a cart, variants or stock.

3

Every site is another subscription

The pricing page says all plans are per site, twice. Building three small sites means paying three times for the same feature set.

4

The roadmap moved to another product

The public changelog stops at 30 April 2024, beehiiv acquired Typedream in June 2024, and beehiiv's own website builder went to beta in January 2025 on the same technology. No sunset has been announced, but no new features have arrived either.

What Typedream does well

  • A slash-menu editor that makes writing a page genuinely quick
  • 1-click Notion database sync into a real CMS
  • Link in bio as a first-class product, free plan included
  • Digital product selling wired straight into the page

Where Typedream falls short

  • One CMS collection on Launch, unlimited only on Grow
  • Priced per site, so every extra site is a full subscription
  • A platform cut on every sale, 5% free and 2% on paid plans
  • No public changelog entry since April 2024

Typing a page instead of dragging one

Fit: Typedream

This is the thing Typedream got right, and it is worth saying plainly. You write, you press slash, you pick a block, and the page keeps looking composed without you arranging anything. For a sales page, a long essay or a launch announcement that is mostly words, that is quicker than any canvas, and the constrained block model makes a broken layout almost impossible. Grigora's block editor gives you more control over each section, which is the trade: more control, more decisions.

Takeaway: If the page is mostly prose, Typedream is the pleasanter place to write it.

When your content already lives in Notion

Fit: Typedream

Typedream's CMS can point a collection at a Notion database and render it through a template in one click. If your directory, changelog or content calendar is already a Notion table, that removes a migration and a sync tool in one step. Grigora has no Notion integration. You would move the content into the Grigora CMS once and edit it there afterwards, which is more work on day one and less moving machinery after that.

Takeaway: For a Notion-native team, Typedream is genuinely the shorter path, and Grigora has no answer to it.

What the site in the middle is allowed to hold

Fit: Grigora

Typedream's plans decide how simple your site stays. The free plan publishes one page, on a typedream.app subdomain, carrying a Typedream badge. Launch unlocks unlimited pages and exactly one CMS collection, which means one blog, or one directory, but not both. Unlimited collections start on Grow at $42/mo billed annually, per site. Grigora's CMS is the same on every paid plan: posts, categories, author profiles, directories and moderated comments with admin replies.

Takeaway: Typedream's simple site is simple partly by taste and partly because the plan says so.

Selling a file versus running a shop

Fit: Grigora

Typedream lists a product with a price and content, connects Stripe and PayPal, shows a sales dashboard, and embeds the product anywhere on the site. That is a good way to sell an ebook, a Notion template or an hour of your time. No Typedream page documents a cart, variants, inventory, shipping or tax, and every reference in its own marketing is to digital products. Grigora's store covers a catalogue with variants and stock as well as downloads, and takes nothing on top of your processor's fee.

Sending an announcement versus running a list

Fit: Grigora

Typedream describes its email feature as composing a campaign to promote your products and sending it to your list. That is a real feature and it fits the product: a creator with a launch to announce. The list is capped at 1,000 subscribers on Launch and 5,000 on Grow, with none on the free plan, and no automations, sequences or segmentation are documented on any Typedream page. Grigora includes a subscriber list of 2,500 to 25,000 by plan, a campaign builder, automations and segmentation.

Takeaway: Both send the announcement. Only one is built to still be emailing that list in a year.

One subscription per simple site

Fit: Grigora

Typedream's pricing page says it twice: all plans are per site. The second small site is a second subscription at the same price, and so is the third. That is an awkward shape for exactly the audience Typedream courts, because people who like building small sites tend to build several. Grigora counts sites inside the plan: one on Starter, two on Pro, five on Business.

What has shipped since the acquisition

Fit: Grigora

beehiiv announced its acquisition of Typedream on 25 June 2024, and Typedream's own homepage carries the banner to say so. Its public changelog has not had an entry since 30 April 2024, and beehiiv launched a website builder of its own in beta on 22 January 2025, describing Typedream as the technology behind it. On 11 September 2026 the signup page behind every Start for Free button reported that it is not accepting new users. Neither company has published a shutdown notice, a sunset date or a migration deadline, so nobody should assert one.

SEO when the free plan is a single page

Depends on your needs

Typedream's SEO is basic but real, and it is paid-only: custom domain, SEO settings and code injection all begin on Launch, alongside site analytics, with sitemap handling covered in the docs. That is fine for a landing page. It is thin for a site that needs to be found, and the free plan cannot compete at all, because it is one page on a builder subdomain. Grigora adds schema controls, IndexNow submission and free SEO tools on the marketing site.

Is Grigora the right Typedream alternative for you?

Where each platform is the honest choice.

Best Typedream alternative for a site that keeps growing

Unlimited CMS collections, directories, author profiles and moderated comments from the first paid plan, rather than one collection on Launch and the rest on Grow.

… for anyone selling more than a download

A catalogue with variants and stock, digital downloads too, and no platform commission on any of it.

… for people running several small sites

Two sites on Pro at $20/mo and five on Business at $45/mo, instead of one subscription per site.

Typedream is the right call if…

You already have an account, your content lives in a Notion database you want synced rather than migrated, and your site is a page you write rather than a system you run.

Which one is right for you?

Choose Grigora if…

  • Your simple site is going to stop being simple
  • You sell products, not only files
  • You want the subscriber list and the automations in the same place
  • You will build more than one site
  • You want a platform that is still shipping features

Choose Typedream if…

  • •You have an account already and the writing experience is the point
  • •Your content is a Notion database you do not want to move
  • •Link in bio matters more than a catalogue

How to move a Typedream site to Grigora

Typedream does not document a site export, and its CMS content often originates in Notion, which makes the source easier to reach than the site. Plan on rebuilding the pages and carrying the content across. Before moving everything, test a representative content export and check supported import formats. Keep media backups, reconcile product variants and retain subscriber consent and unsubscribe records; an export does not guarantee a direct import.

5 migration steps from Typedream to Grigora, detailed below
A planning checklist, not an automated transfer. Read the steps below before changing your live site.
  1. 1

Generate the new site from a description

Describe the same business or project in Grigora and let the AI produce a draft, or pick from the website templates, then shape it in the block editor.

  2. 2

    Bring the writing over

Typedream pages are structured text, so copy them block by block into the Grigora editor. This is the slow part, and it is also the moment to cut the pages nobody reads.

  3. 3

    Rebuild the collections

If a collection is synced from Notion, export that database to CSV and load it into a Grigora CMS collection or directory. The sync stops at the switch, so the Grigora CMS becomes the source of truth.

  4. 4

Re-list what you sell and import the list

Add your products to Grigora Commerce, connect Stripe or Razorpay, upload the digital files, and import your email subscribers into the newsletter.

  5. 5

    Point the domain and redirect

Keep the old service active while you test the new site. Match existing URL paths or configure permanent redirects, verify canonicals and the sitemap, and test forms and checkout on mobile. Change DNS after these checks, then monitor indexing and errors before cancelling services you no longer need. Rankings may change during a migration.

Why people look for a Typedream alternative in 2026

Typedream arrived with a clear and likeable idea: a website should be as easy to write as a Notion page. Press slash, choose a block, keep typing. It worked, and for a certain kind of page it is still the best version of that idea. The reasons people go looking for something else have very little to do with the editor and almost everything to do with what the editor is attached to.

The slash menu was the whole idea, and it was a good one

The constrained block model is why a Typedream page looks composed without any effort. You cannot drag a heading three pixels out of alignment because there is nothing to drag. For a sales page, a launch post or a long explainer, that is the right trade, and anyone who has fiddled with a canvas builder at midnight will recognise the relief. The CMS underneath is not a toy either: collections, more than thirty templates, dynamic content pages, and a 1-click sync from a Notion database that most builders still cannot match.

Then it became an AI builder, and then it became beehiiv's

The product's second act was AI generation, and that is the version beehiiv bought. beehiiv announced the acquisition on 25 June 2024, describing Typedream as an AI-based website builder. Typedream's own homepage now carries a banner saying it is acquired by beehiiv, and its footer reads beehiiv, Inc., while older subpages still show the original company name from 2023.

What happened next is visible in public but has never been explained in public. The changelog's most recent entry is dated 30 April 2024. beehiiv shipped a website builder of its own in beta on 22 January 2025, built on the technology it had acquired. On 11 September 2026, the signup page behind every Start for Free button on the marketing site reported that it is no longer accepting new users, while the pricing page continued to advertise all three plans. Neither company has published a statement, a sunset date or a migration deadline, so the honest summary is this: the product still runs for the people who have it, and there is no public commitment about what comes next.

The site in the middle never grew up

The most practical reason to look elsewhere is simpler than any of that. The free plan publishes one page, on a typedream.app subdomain, with a badge. Launch at $15 a month billed annually unlocks unlimited pages and exactly one CMS collection, 1,000 form submissions and 1,000 email subscribers, priced per site. Unlimited collections and 5,000 subscribers need Grow at $42 a month, still per site. Selling means digital products, with 2% taken on top of the card fee, and there is no tier that buys that commission down to zero. Email is campaign composition and sending; automations, sequences and segmentation are not documented anywhere on Typedream's own pages. None of that is a flaw in the editor. It is a ceiling above it.

How Grigora compares

Grigora starts from the same premise, that publishing should be quick, and then assumes the site will be asked to do more. You describe the business and the AI generates a draft, or you start from a website template. From there it behaves like a platform rather than a page tool.

The same quick start, without the ceiling above it

Starter at $12 a month billed annually includes the CMS in full: posts, categories, author profiles, directories and collections, and moderated comments with admin replies, within the selected plan’s content and storage limits. It includes a newsletter with 2,500 subscribers, a campaign builder, automations and segmentation. It includes a store with a catalogue, variants, stock and digital downloads, at 0% platform commission, so the only deduction on a sale is your processor's. Pro at $20 covers two sites and Business at $45 covers five, which matters because three Typedream Launch subscriptions also come to $45 a month and cover three simple sites between them.

The parts that are easy to overlook are the ones that decide whether a site gets found: schema controls, sitemaps, IndexNow submission, and free SEO tools on the Grigora marketing site. Hosting, SSL and the CDN are included, with nothing to patch. For agencies, White Label is a separate plan at $199 a month, and professional mailboxes start at $5 each.

Where Typedream still wins: the typing, and the Notion sync

Two things, and they are real. Writing a page in Typedream is faster and calmer than building one on a canvas, and if most of your pages are prose you will feel that every week. And if your directory or content calendar already lives in a Notion database, Typedream's 1-click sync means you never migrate it at all, where Grigora would have you move it into its CMS once and edit it there afterwards. Grigora has no Notion integration and does not pretend otherwise. If those two things describe your work, and you already have a Typedream account, staying put is a reasonable decision. If your site is turning into a business that publishes, sells and emails, the ceiling is the problem, and it is the thing Grigora removes.
